Passion with purpose

This inspiring story explores how Jamey's deep love for reptiles united her diverse passions and became the missing piece to her jigsaw. What began as curiosity grew into a lifestyle rooted in care, learning, and a mission to better understand these animals both in captivity and in the wild.

Ever since we've gotten these animals, kind of every passion that I have, which is a lot, have kind of all come together with these animals.

I feel fulfilled when I'm working with these animals from the mundane tasks of cleaning up their enclosures to seeing them become healthy and thrive in the environments that we create for them. I think it's the coolest thing.

Ever since we've gotten these animals, kind of every passion that I have, which is a lot, have kind of all come together with these animals. From crafting to plants and learning, I love to learn, and there's so much to learn about them and to discover on my own. Everything's just kind of come together into one place.

Most of these animals were not brought into the house by me. My husband has brought in a majority of them with a lot of reluctance on my end. But in seeing all the different species we have, I've become more interested in some of my own things.

We'll be bringing a lot of other species in, and I don't think we're ever just going to focus solely on one species because we like to really see the differences in all the different kinds of reptiles that there are.

There's still so much to learn and understand about these animals. And with my background in psychology and my love for animals as a whole, I really want to be able to get to the point where we travel or we fund or start our own research to really see how these animals are in the wild throughout an entire year or maybe more to see their behaviors outside of our care and on top of it to spread the love of reptiles.

Because as a kid, I didn't mind lizards, but snakes were not something I was fond of. And then to all of a sudden have it take over my life, I want to share that love with other people and hope to get more people to understand them.
