Do we love our reptiles?

Of course we do!

#myreptilepic

On the 1st of each month, we fill social media with reptile selfies to show the world how much our animals mean to us. We are pushing back against campaigners who want to prevent us from posting selfies with our animals.

Get involved!

Post a selfie with your animals on your page, tag RRK and add #myreptilepic!

Each month, we’ll pick our favourite and the winner receives a cool #myreptilepic mug. They will also be the star of next month’s #myreptilepic video!

Join in for your chance to be the face of RRK's monthly #myreptilepic!

What we're up against

  • Four Paws

    ‘Petfluencing or cruel influencing?
Where do we draw the line on animal suffering?’

  • World Animal Protection

‘Wild animals kept as pets are suffering for ‘likes’ on social media.’

  • Veterinary Practice

‘Overall, social media regularly misrepresents exotic animals as suitable pets and downplays the problems, either through biological ignorance or commercial dishonesty.’

  • NotAPet.net

A coalition project by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), Wildlife Trafficking Alliance (WTA), and the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW)

NotAPet’s ‘Beware of my share’ pledge

  • Battersea Park Children’s Zoo

BPCZ push this flowchart to discourage children from sharing pictures of their animals.

  • Don’t Pet Me

A coalition project by OneKind, Born Free and the Scottish SPCA.

‘Social media influencers: This is a particularly strong driver of demand. Although there are some more responsible influencers, many seem to care little about animal welfare and promote harmful ideas and misinformation. Irresponsible influencers often have huge followings.’
