Temperate forest, grassland and farmland habitat

These regions are suitable for growing crops such as maize and wheat. There is sporadic tree cover with a mosaic of forests and access to water in lakes, ponds and rivers which run all year round. Summer temperatures are not extreme and winters are generally relatively mild, although a short period of frost or snow may be experienced. Reptiles here will have to brumate for a relatively short spell compared to montane or steppe animals. There will be varying levels of cloud cover throughout the year meaning periods when warm nights allow for extended hunting activity.
