Steppe habitat
These elevated prairies and grasslands have a particularly marked set of seasons, with an exposed hot and dry summer and a very cold winter that may remain under snow for parts of the year. Species hailing from this region would have to brumate for several months and rely heavily on the fat stores they have built up throughout the previous year. This type of habitat is still rather exposed with minimal tree or cloud cover to insulate from night time drops in temperature.
