Ignorance, misinformation and pseudoscience

This clip is from a presentation by Eurogroup for Animals. Their campaign aims to ban the ownership of thousands of pet animals by imposing a European-wide positive list.

In it, we expose their lack of basic knowledge on the very topics they consult with governments on.

So, we ask you – is this who we want guiding our laws?

This is Nick Clark from Euro Group for Animals, an organisation that’s advising governments on how reptiles should be kept, and they’re pushing for laws that would stop millions of people keeping pets.

Let’s take a look at one of their informative presentations.

According to them the largest snake on the planet is the Burmese python, which is of course just wrong, but it gets worse. That’s not even a photo of a Burmese python on the slide. It’s a ball python, common pet species that barely reaches five feet.

Now this is really basic stuff that every reptile enthusiast would know, and sadly it’s not an isolated mistake. It’s just one of the countless examples of ignorance, misinformation and pseudoscience that this group presents as facts.

And yet they’re advising lawmakers and they’re influencing real world legislation with real world consequences for pet owners like you.

So is this really who we want guiding our laws?

We have absolutely no idea.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
